Punk-pop, shoegaze, and neo-psychedelia are just some of the glorious genres used to describe four-piece Rackett. However none of them adequately define that certain gleeful glint in the eye of the glamorous cannibal featured in their new clip… yep, we said cannibal.

Oh hi there. We’re a pop culture website. And you are…
Rebecca, lead singer and guitarist of RACKETT.

We hear you make music. Tell us about your latest release?
Prey (our latest single from our forthcoming debut EP), is about the absurd behaviours some animals use to trap their prey. It’s a narrative from the victims point of view, caught in the clutches of a clever predator. Sonically, the song is deceptive, I recommend you listen and let yourself become prey to it. Then, watch the video clip. The video clip is a collaboration with French cinematographer, Mathilde Noquet. It is grotesquely beautiful, exploring the dark and merciless nature of the ultimate predator; humans.

Inspo is awesome. Who are your ultimate music icons/inspirations?
Black Sabbath, The Spice Girls.

The first album I bought with my own money was…
Spice Girls – Spiceworld.

Are you heading on tour? Where can we see you?
Yes, we’ve got a tour to launch our debut EP. We’ve got the inner city metros covered with two EP launches; one in Melbourne on 22 September at Yah Yahs, and one in Sydney on 23 September at The Chippo. Then we’re going rural, heading out on the dusty road for a regional tour with Killing Heidi from the end of September through to October. Tickets on sale now.
