Ahead of her Summer workshop at Eastland, we chatted to Oz Beauty Expert Bonnie Gillies about the top trends to look out for with the change of season. Plus, we ask her about a lil’ thing called spring racing – and get her best beauty tips for the race days ahead.
What’s your top summer beauty tip?
Lip gloss is back! Invest in a few creamy, tinted lip glosses for a natural pop of colour.
What do you think the biggest trends are in beauty this summer?
Peachy hues – peach blush and eyeshadows are a big trend at the moment. Another trend is glossy, almost wet looking skin. You can achieve this by using cheek stains or applying a clear balm on the cheeks and eyelids. However you must be sure to keep the shine to the outer areas of the face – not the nose or down the centre of the face.
What’s your must-have product?
I have a few! Bioderma micellar water and BB cream. Benefit Agent Zero shine powder to stop my make up getting shiny in my T-zone. Lanolips ointment.
What do you carry everywhere you go?
A selection of nudes and soft pink lipsticks and glosses.
What’s the most innovative beauty product on the market at the moment?
I recently tried the Style Pro brush cleaner… God! It’s so ingenious! It cleans and dries a make-up brush in 5 seconds flat.
Your best spring racing beauty tips?
Glowing radiant skin is in, but go easy on the illuminater for day time race events. Powder illuminate can make the pores looks more visible, and accentuate fine lines under the harsh sunlight. Stick with a more subtle cream highlight. At night, however, you can go for gold and pack on the illuminate powder because it looks amazing under dim lighting.
