Julia Stone has broken away from her brother Angus to deliver a gorgeous solo album called The Memory Machine. And although this would seem to be the most interesting part of the story, it’s the artwork contained therein that really caught my eye.
Having already won an ARIA Award this year for Best Artwork for their latest combined effort Down The Way, Angus and Julia have always been placed in the DIY camp when it comes to music making and it’s relation to art. However, The Memory Machine is a far cry from a photo pilfered from a relative’s shoebox in the closet.
With Julia having painted all the works in the booklet, it makes you realise that there are some albums you simply must buy the physical version of. Forget iTunes for now and get this beautiful album just to pour over the movie-poster-like representations of the songs.
