Ditching the ‘spring’ from Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, the new Melbourne Fashion Week will embrace a new home just a couple of hundred metres away from the now-under-construction City Square.
Finding a new home at Town Hall, a line-up of leading and emerging Australian designers will showcase their collections during MFW from Friday 1 September to Friday 8 September. Responding to what consumers want, all ready-to-wear collections featured on the runways will be available for immediate purchase from retailers and boutiques across Melbourne’s CBD. This is going to be dangerous, you guys.

Sunday 3 September, 6.00pm
Set outdoors in a concealed carpark, MFW’s Garage Runway showcases new season looks from some of the city’s most exciting talent. Known for their fresh perspectives and distinct Melburnian-edge, these independent labels embody the creativity and originality the city is known for.Featured designers include: Arnsdorf, Dress Up, Kalaurie, Kloke, Lois Hazel, PAGEANT and VERNER.
Garage Runway –Menswear
Sunday 3 September, 8.00pm
Ditching the traditional runway setting, this show presents new season looks from Melbourne’s leading menswear labels –from high street to high-end. Featured designers include: AMXANDER, Aquila, Autonomy, Calibre, Chris Ran Lin, Dom Bagnato and Jack London.
Premium Runway One presented by David Jones
Monday 4 September, 7.00pm
For MFW’s first Premium Runway, David Jones will showcase their impressive spring/summer 17-18 collections. Designers will be announced closer to the date.
Premium Runway Two
Tuesday 5 September, 6.30pm
This runway show will bring together Australian fashion heavyweights for a show of expert technique and forward-thinking design. Featured designers include: Akira, Alpha60, Ginger & Smart, Manning Cartell, Zambesi and more.
Premium Runway Three
Tuesday 5 September, 8.30pm
Featuring high profile labels known for their feminine lines and understated approach. Featured designers include: Asilio, JASONGRECH, MISHA COLLECTION, nevenka, CRISTAHLEA, Nicole Finetti, and White Suede.
Premium Runway Four
Wednesday 6 September, 6.30pm
Armed with loyal followings, these labels are renowned for their signature styles and artistry. Featured designers include: Carla Zampatti, MeganPark, RachelGilbert, Thurley, YeojinBae and Rebecca Vallance.
Premium Runway Five
Wednesday 6 September, 8.30pm
Presenting a contemporary offering of day-to-night looks that will inspire you for the new season. Featured designers include: alice McCALL, búl, gorman, Kate Sylvester, Kuwaii, and LIFEwithBIRD.
Student Runway – RMIT
Thursday 7 September, 6.30pm
This student runway showcases daring and technically impressive designs by graduates from RMIT’s esteemed School of Fashion and Textiles.
Student Runway – Collective
Thursday 7 September, 8.30pm
Students from Melbourne’s top design schools Box Hill Institute, Fashion Masters, Holmesglen Institute, Kangan Institute and Whitehouse Institute of Design present their creative and innovative designs.
Premium Runway– Closing
Friday 8 September, 7.00pm
MFW closes with a runway show bringing together some of Australia’s most revered labels who are setting the pace for fashion design across the globe. Featured designers include: Bianca Spender, Dion Lee, macgraw, Michael Lo Sordo, Romance Was Born and Scanlan Theodore.
Each runway will be supported with hair by KEVIN.MURPHY and makeup by MECCA.
Tickets start at $35 and will be available from July 19. The MFW Bar will be open at the Melbourne Town Hall forecourt across the week pre- and post-runway shows, with DJ sets and live performances. Top image: MFW Facebook.
