Kookai’s annual runway is an event we always look forward to over here at The Second Row, and this year was no different: A procession of pretty event wear and go-to casuals walked through the George Ballroom to herald the start of winter dressing. However, for us, it was the beauty that was to behold.
Paired back with muted winter prints, stripes and staples, Kookai brought the bombshell back for winter this year with a romantic smokey eye and bed hair, and it was the perfect accompaniment to thigh high boots, body-con dresses and oversized accessories.
Naploeon Perdis delivered strong brows, soft and shiny lips and a strong eye, accented with dusky brown and sunset pink. A glowing cheek finished off the look – which was definitely pretty, but had a strong, confident woman-vibe when paired with the relaxed hair.
A combination of messy beach waves, bed hair and a sleek ponytail wrapped in a twist of hair was L’Oreal’s vision for the Kookai woman this winter – polished, but still relaxed. It’s the perfect accompaniment for the sleek Kookai sheaths and sexy thigh highs that strutted down the runway, delivering an easy, cool attitude to what could have easily gone into too-sexy territory.
Kookai also showed a range of cool casuals and great workwear that would work back perfectly with the sleek ponytail and boss-lady makeup vibe – with a range of striped knitwear that was certainly one to look out for in the colder seasons ahead.
Floaty winter florals begging to be layered back with long coats and boots were also a nice surprise amongst the Kookai signatures (including their always-soft leather pieces), and delivered some of the 90s vibes punctuating the seasons of late.
I think it’s high time to update my winter makeup looks – and maybe grab a piece or two from the new Kookai collection to go…
